Charles Oliveira returns vs. Jared Gordon at UFC on ESPN+ 22 in Sao Paulo

Charles Oliveira will have to take on at least one more unranked opponent before UFC matchmakers finally pair him with a numbered lightweight.

Oliveira (27-8 MMA, 15-8 UFC) returns to fight in his home country at UFC on ESPN+ 22, when the 29-year-old Brazilian takes on Jared Gordon, the promotion announced Thursday.

UFC on ESPN+ 22 takes place Nov. 16 at Ibirapuera Gymnasium in Sao Paulo. The card streams on ESPN+.

Oliveira, 29, is riding a five-fight win and finish streak entering UFC Sao Paulo. The stretch of victories is the longest Oliviera has produced since he signed with the UFC as a 19-year-old fighter in 2010.

In his most recent outing at UFC on ESPN+ 10 in May, Oliveira picked up the first TKO of his career when he beat rival Nik Lentz for the second time in his UFC tenure.

Roufusport’s Gordon (15-3 MMA, 3-2 UFC) started off his career on a hot streak when he defeated his first two opponents Michel Quinones and Hacran Dias after he signed with the promotion in early 2017.

The pair of wins were followed by as many losses, as Gordon was finished by strikes at the hands of Diego Ferreira and Joaquim Silva. In June, Gordon rebounded from the back-to-back losses when he defeated Dan Moret via unanimous decision.

With the addition, the UFC on ESPN+ 22 lineup now includes:

  • Jan Blachowicz vs. Jacare Souza
  • Mauricio Rua vs. Sam Alvey
  • Charles Oliveira vs. Jared Gordon
  • Renan Barao vs. Douglas Silva de Andrade
  • Warlley Alves vs. Randy Brown
  • Ricardo Ramos vs. Luiz Eduardo Garragorri
  • Priscila Cachoeira vs. Ariane Lipski
  • Antonio Arroyo vs. Kevin Holland
  • Leah Letson vs. Eduarda Santana
  • James Krause vs. Sergio Moraes
  • Bobby Green vs. Francisco Trinaldo
  • Jack Marshman vs. Markus Perez
