Charles Darwin - picture of the day

Charles Darwin, English naturalist
Charles Darwin, the author of On the Origin of Species and originator of the theory of natural selection, rented a house on the Isle of Wight from Julia Margaret Cameron in 1868. Darwin visited Cameron's private studio (a chicken house in her garden) during this period and paid her for the privilege of being photographed. The photographer is an important figure in the history of early British photography and her large format portrait studies from this period are held in high regard
