Prince Charles telephoned the Queen before jetting off on his royal tour to Jordan to make sure she was resting on doctors’ orders, royal sources have revealed.
The Prince of Wales called his mother over the weekend to ask how she was feeling after she strained her back and was forced to pull out of the Remembrance Sunday service at the Cenotaph.
The heir and his wife Camilla are set to arrive in the capital Amman Tuesday morning ahead of their visit, as well as travelling to Egypt over the next four days.
A royal source said: “The Prince of Wales made sure to check in with the Queen ahead of his departure and was completely reassured of her current condition by Her Majesty herself.

“The Queen is resting at Windsor Castle and will continue to do so until she is back to full health.
“Straining your back can be incredibly debilitating and rest is best right now.”
The Queen will undertake light duties at Windsor Castle this week including one or two video calls, it is understood.

Charles looked emotional and almost teary-eyed as he led the nation in paying tribute to its war dead on Sunday.
He led the Royal Family in laying wreaths at the Cenotaph in London just hours after it was announced the Queen would be unable to attend the Remembrance Sunday event due to a sprained back.
As the clock struck 11 and the nation fell silent, the future king looked sombre as he observed the two-minute silence before laying a wreath on behalf of his mother and one for himself.
He was followed by Prince William, Princess Anne and Prince Edward, who also placed wreaths at the Cenotaph.
