Charles Bronson's wife Paula Williamson found dead

The wife of notorious prisoner Charles Bronson has been found dead.

Paula Williamson, 38, married Bronson at HM Prison Wakefield in November 2017 and a row over the wedding photographs prompted an altercation

Police confirmed that Williamson, a former Coronation Street actress, had died after her body was discovered in a house in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, this morning,  StokeonTrentLive reports  .

Her death is not being treated as suspicious, police said.

In June, it was reported the marriage between Williamson and Bronson, now known as Charles Salvador, was to be annulled as it had never been consummated.

Bronson, who has spent 44 years inside, had earlier said  he planned to marry a 63-year-old woman called Joan.

Staffordshire Police said: "A woman from Stoke-on-Trent who was found dead this morning (July 29) has been named as Paula Williamson, aged 38.

"Paula’s body was found in a house on Gordon Avenue, Sneyd Green, at around 7am.

"A postmortem will take place to establish the cause of death but the death is not being treated as suspicious. A report is now being prepared for the coroners.

"Next of kin have been informed. The family have asked for their right to privacy to allow them to grieve at this difficult time."

Bronson went on trial at Leeds Crown Court last year, accused of attacking a governor at Wakefield Prison.

But the former prize fighter and armed robber danced in court after he was found not guilty.

Paula appeared in Coronation Street three times between 2008 and 2012 as an unnamed nurse.

She has also starred in TV shows including Hollyoaks where she played a doctor, Scott & Bailey and Emmerdale.
