Charles Barkley was in utter disbelief amid Auburn’s Final Four loss

Charles Barkley had a rough night.

Barkley looked absolutely stunned after the Auburn Tiger’s loss to the Virginia Cavaliers. Even as the Auburn alumnus offered analysis on the CBS postgame broadcast, he still seemed to be in shock after his Tigers squandered a four-point lead in the final 17 seconds for a 63-62 loss.

Virginia’s Kyle Guy put up six points in the final nine seconds, which sent the Cavaliers to the national championship game in the 2019 NCAA Tournament. Guy nailed a three-pointer in the closing moments. When he got the ball back after a crazy sequence — which included an uncalled double dribble by the Cavaliers — Guy shot another three-pointer at the buzzer. He drew a foul and went to the line, where he hit 3 of 3 and won the game for Virginia.

Here’s how Barkley reacted to that missed three-point attempt, which was followed by a foul call.

Auburn had rallied from being down, 57-47, during the second half. There was reason for encouragement for the Tigers, whose fans and players had moments of overconfidence followed by devastating disappointment.

As exhausted and hurt as Barkley must have been, he stepped on the CBS broadcast and provided a fair assessment of the game’s closing moments.

“I want to say this. [The 3-point foul] might’ve been a good call. Can’t put yourself in that situation to five that kid from Virginia great coverage to make all three of those free,” he said. “But I think it was a foul. And man, my guys played hard as they could. … It’s just a tough loss man. It hurts. That really hurts.”

Thanks to TNT, we got a closer look at Barkley’s emotional roller coast during the dramatic moments of the game.
