Charles Barkley says Kevin Durant isn’t tough enough to play in New York

This is just never going to end for Kevin Durant — well, at least not for the remainder of the season. Durant, who can become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, has been linked to the New York Knicks for pretty much the entire season.

Things heated up a bit when the Knicks traded away Kristaps Porzingis to create enough cap space for two max players this summer. If the rumor mill means anything to you, then you know that those two max slots could become Durant and his friend Kyrie Irving.

Both players have had their run-ins with the media this season, and Charles Barkley doesn’t think that either one of them are tough enough to play in New York because of how fervent the media can be in the city.

While it’s not fair to really assume that players can’t handle a particular media setting because of their annoyance with their current situations, but both players have been very anti-media all season long, something that likely won’t fly in New York.

However, a lot of the anti-media sentiment is coming from being asked about what their plans are for next season. Should both land in New York, that sentiment could change if they’re both happy where they are. Of course, none of this matters if Durant or Kyrie don’t head to New York, but this is yet another story about Durant’s future and his ability to handle it.
