Charles Barkley donates $45k to clean water initiative after Bucks-Raptors game

The NBA on TNT crew welcomed Bucks star Malcolm Brogdon to their set inside Fiserv Forum Friday night, after Brogdon scored 14 points in a blowout win over the Raptors. Brogdon, who recently returned from a plantar fasciitis injury, was given the chance to speak about his non-profit organization, Hoops2o, which installs clean wells for communities in need in Africa.

“We basically build clean water wells un East Africa and Tanzania. So every summer I go over there. I raise money through the season, I have four other guys in the NBA who are helping me raise money on different teams, and I’m just trying to raise as much money as I can to build more wells. And then I go visit the people in Africa and see the impact it has.”

Charles Barkley asked how much it costs to buy a well, and immediately pledged the $45,000 necessary. Shaquille O’Neal suggested that Brogdon could name it “the Chuck well.”

Brooklyn’s Joe Harris, Memphis’ Garrett Temple, Minnesota’s Anthony Tolliver and Atlanta’s Justin Anderson are the other four players involved in Hoops2o.
