Charles Barkley absolutely doomed the Charlotte Hornets with his guarantee of a win

The NBA’s first game of the play-in tournament ended in a dud with the Hornets losing to the Pacers 144-117. They never had a lead. They trailed by double digits for most of the game.

In hindsight, it’s pretty clear the Hornets stood absolutely no chance here. We all should’ve known. It was right there in front of our faces.

And it wasn’t because of anything schematically. It wasn’t because they lack the talent. It wasn’t because of anything they did, if we’re being completely honest about it.

It’s all because of Charles Barkley.

The ‘Inside the NBA’ host made one of his famous “guarantees.” This time, he guaranteed the Hornets would win this game. And he was confident, too.

Plot twist: The Hornets got blown out by 27.

We should’ve known. We’ve seen how Barkley’s other guarantees have gone. His guarantee win percentage was 13.7% last year.

Poor, poor Hornets. You hate to see it.
