Charles, Prince of Wales, and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, will arrive in Washington, DC on Tuesday for a three-day visit to the US capital.
They will meet with President Obama in the Oval Office on Thursday at 2pm, a spokesperson for the British embassy in Washington confirmed.
They will attend a reception at the British embassy Tuesday night, then visit several memorials on Wednesday before touring George Washington’s birthplace at Mount Vernon and visiting the National Archives, where they will see a copy of the US Bill of Rights and the Magna Carta.
Charles, who will become king when the queen dies, will also address a gathering of politicians, environmental organisations and companies at an event to raise awareness of marine plastic waste.
On Thursday they will visit an armed forces retirement home, and then Charles will visit a charter school followed by an event for Marshall scholars. Camilla will visit a sexual assault referral treatment centre.
Charles is then set to receive the Teddy Roosevelt award for international conservation by the International Conservation Caucus Foundation.
The Prince first visited the US with his then-wife Diana in 1985, where they were the guests of honour at a gala dinner hosted by president Ronald Reagan. At one point, the president reportedly accidentally called Diana “Princess David.”
More recently, William and Kate, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, visited Washington and New York in December 2014, on a visit which saw the Duchess experience some New York charm while wrapping presents at a centre for child development in Harlem.
