Charlene White stops Loose Women to deliver 'heartbreaking' news

Charlene White briefly stopped Loose Women on Thursday to deliver some sad breaking news to the panel and to viewers.

The presenter told the studio that much loved actress and MP Glenda Jackson had died.

The latest episode of the ITV lunchtime show saw Charlene break the news of Glenda's death to viewers, with her agent having released a statement just minutes earlier, Chronicle Live reports.

Pausing the show as it returned from the first ad break, Charlene said: "We do have some sad news about Oscar winning actress and former MP, Glenda Jackson, as she passed away at the age of 87.

"Her agent said in a statement that the actress died peacefully at her home in Blackheath, London, this morning, after a brief illness and with her family by her side."

After reading the statement, Charlene added: "Words cannot underestimate just how impactful Glenda was, especially as an actress."

Denise Welch said: "The most incredible actress", before adding: "Without wanting to name drop; we do have a lovely friendship with Michael Caine and his wife Shakira, and Michael did the most recent film he's done at 89-years-old, with 87-year-old Glenda Jackson and they both said that at that old age, it's the best film they've ever, ever done.

"So it'll be an incredible legacy to see that."
