Charlene White has detailed the abuse she faced about her race on her first TV job.

A viewer called in to complain the newsreader was black when she first presented the regional TV bulletin in the East of England.

The star said it was just "one example" of the racial injustice she has suffered.

She added: "I think what's important for everyone who sees me on TV, lunchtime news, and they assume the path to where I am is really easy. It wasn't. That's just one example."
