An East Kilbride-based charity which helps the most vulnerable was given a welcome boost.
The East Kilbride Labour party and East Kilbride Thistle Football Club (EKTH) joined together to help people in their community by donating to Share Alike.
It is run by Annmarie Campbell and her team of invaluable volunteers who recently made a plea to the local community fearing that without donations, financial and other support they would struggle to survive.
That call was answered and now they need the backing of the community more than ever in the run up to Christmas.
They provide a whole host of support and have worked throughout the pandemic providing emergency food parcels throughout the East Kilbride area.
Kris McKinnon of EKTH told Lanarkshire Live : “We wanted to help people in our community so decided to reach out to our supporters and the other teams that use the Showpark facilities asking them to get involved and donate tins and dried foods for the food bank.”
Councillor Monique McAdams, on behalf of the East Kilbride constituency Labour party, said: “It was an absolute pleasure to speak to the volunteers about the fantastic work they are doing to look after the vulnerable and people in our community that need a hand.
"We will be doing another joint initiative before Christmas to help with their Christmas Kindness Campaign."
