Charity variety show coming to West Lothian

A Scottish double-act bring their charity variety show to West Lothian on Sunday night as part of a national day of celebration for older people.

Silver Sunday is an annual day of fun for older people with the aim of combatting loneliness and the duo Sian and Stephen are performing for the sixth year in a row.

The couple are founders of the charity, At Home at the Theatre, and have already taken over 4,500 professional live variety shows to audiences in care homes, sheltered housing and community centres the length and breadth of Scotland.

Finding a new theme for each Silver Sunday presents an exciting challenge for Sian and Stephan; previous years have included Francie and Josie at the Palais, a Country and Western show, a celebration of D-Day’s 75th Anniversary, 60s/70s show, Music Hall and even a panto.

This year’s show, Holiday Rock, revisits the heyday of the holiday camps from the 50s - 70s with tributes to Adam Faith, Alvin Stardust, Nana Mouskouri, Sir Cliff Richard, Dusty Springfield and many more.

Ruth Madoc, star or the BBC hit comedy Hi de Hi has recorded a voiceover specially for the show. The big-hearted star has waived her fee, asking that it be donated to At Home At The Theatre instead.

The venue is the Hilcroft Hotel in Whitburn which will play host to an information fayre before the show. Curtain up is at 2pm.
