A charity shop worker has describing hearing "horrifying screams" moments after a car ploughed into a Specsavers in a busy town centre yesterday.
A 40-year-old pedestrian died after the crash in Boston, Lincolnshire , which involved a silver Citroën driven by a pensioner.
The driver was herself dashed to hospital with minor injuries, Lincolnshire Live reports.
But Trudi Hockley, who works at the Age UK opposite, has now spoken of the awful aftermath of the shunt.
"I just heard all of the screams - they were horrific actually," said the charity shop worker.
"There were screams from a lot of people and I just went to the door.
"Initially I thought that someone was running up the town centre with a knife stabbing people.

"The screams were that horrifying and then I looked left and saw the back end of the car going into Specsavers.
"There was a loud bang when the car went into the shop and then it went quiet. It was quite eerie to be honest.
"It went really quiet for seconds and then about 50 people rushed over to the incident."
She added: "You simply don't expect it at all. There was an ex-policeman in the shop and he went running over there.
"He called the emergency services and came back and said that there was a woman trapped underneath the car."
Flowers have been left outside the store with one note sending condolences to the family of the 40-year-old woman.
Members of the public have also paid their respects as they passed the store.

"That's my age and it's just awful to think about.

Signs have gone up outside the Boston store notifying customers that the store will be closed until further notice.
But it will clearly take the community some time to recover.
