A charity is desperately appealing for volunteers in a bid to help keep its Wishaw shop open.
Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland’s (CHSS) much-loved discount store in the town is set to reopen on Monday, April 26 after being forced to close for months.
The closure of CHSS’s chain of 45 charity shops has resulted in a devastating loss of over £400,000 of income.
The charity is now calling for volunteers to help save the Wishaw shop, which features a community hub at the rear, as the hard work to rebuild local communities and high streets begins.
There are several opportunities available within the store, from helping on the shop floor, with stock donations, to keeping the shop safe by managing socially distanced queues and informing customers of safety and hygiene measures.

The charity’s stores are vital in raising funds to help people living with chest, heart and stroke conditions live their lives to the full.
Carole Edmonds from the charity told Lanarkshire Live : “We are delighted to be reopening our doors again and the team are really looking forward to welcoming back our customers.
“We’re desperately looking for volunteers to help keep the store running and we’re urging people in the local community to spare a few hours a week in the shop.
"Our volunteers are vital in helping us run our shops and in raising funds to help people across Scotland live their lives to the full.
“Lots of us are looking forward to getting back out and seeing our local high streets busy and bustling again. By joining our friendly team, you’ll be helping to save your local store as our community gets back on its feet after lockdown."
The charity will begin accepting stock donations from Monday, April 26. Anyone wishing to make a donation is asked to ring the store on 01698 767699 to arrange a drop-off time.
The community hub will remain closed for the time being. To find out more about volunteering, email volunteering@chss.org.uk
