Charity's appeal to find forever home for 'adorable' blind dog shown 'little interest'

There has been "very little interest" in an adorable blind dog named Miss Piggy that has been left at an animal shelter, and some people just can't understand it.

The seven-year-old Patterdale terrier-cross had to have her eyes removed when she was taken to an animal welfare charity's centre, reports the Daily Record.

But the little pooch isn't letting that hold her back and is said to be "very confident" who "loves nothing more than getting lots of cuddles and affection".

And it appears it has tugged at the nation's hearts with an appeal on the Scottish SPCA's Facebook page to find her a home attracting nearly 400 comments, 3,000 likes and 2,100 shares at the time of publication.

The SPCA's Facebook post read: "Our Angus centre have been searching for an extra special home for Miss Piggy, but sadly she has had very little interest.

"She is a lovely, affectionate Patterdale terrier-cross who loves nothing more than getting lots of cuddles and affection!

"Although she is completely blind, she doesn’t let it hold her back and is an extremely confident little dog. She can however be a bit wary of other dogs coming up to her on walks.

"For this reason, she is looking for a home with no other pets and no young children so that she can get all the attention she deserves!

"Miss Piggy would make a very loving companion, and we would love to find her the perfect home."

Angie Smith wrote: "Oh she’s beautiful. hope she finds the perfect home."

While Gerie Gibson said Miss Piggy was a "beautiful, stunning girl". She added: "So sad she is blind, she needs a forever home filled with lots of love care and cuddles asap please. shared. URGENT."

Linda de France told how she had had several blind dogs before and that they do "amazingly well".

"I’ve taken them hiking (they wore “Doggles” to prevent eye injury), and played outside with them and my dogs that do have vision and nobody could tell which is which," she wrote, "She’s a lovely pup and I hope & pray she finds the perfect family."

Jenny Frater wrote: "I had a blind dog and you wouldn't [have] known.

"Textured mats at various spots around the house (top and bottom of stairs, doorways, etc), jangle of keys when out walking her at the beach so she knew where you were.

"There's a blind dog rescue in the US that has the motto - blind dogs see with their heart. So true!!"
