Charity night raises over £4000 for Robin House Hospice in memory of Ben Mason

A charity night held in memory of Blantyre boy Ben Mason has raised over £4000 for Robin House Hospice.

The event, which was organised by Stan Gordon of the Stonefield Tavern and the Blantyre Rangers Supporters Club Teddies, saw friends, family and fellow football fans join together and raise £4025.

Ben, who was a lifelong Rangers fan, sadly passed away aged just 10 earlier this year following a battle with cerebral palsy.

The youngster who attended the Craighalbert Centre in Cumbernauld, required 24-hour care provided by his mum and dad and underwent advanced bio-mechanical rehabilitation treatment in a bid to help his musculoskeletal structure and motor functions.

Sadly, he passed away in the Robin House Children’s Hospice in Balloch following complications with the condition on Wednesday, January 30.

Ben’s mum Janice Morrison said: “We would like to thank Stan Gordon, Blantyre Rangers Supporters Club and all the staff and regulars of the Stonefield Tavern for raising a fantastic amount of money for Robin House in memory of Ben.

“A huge thank you also to everyone involved for all of their support throughout the years for Ben.”
