Charity looking for Lanarkshire residents to become collection can volunteers to help raise funds

The largest Scottish health charity supporting people with chest, heart and stroke conditions live their lives to the full, is calling for people in Lanarkshire to become collection can volunteers to help raise vital funds.

In Lanarkshire, more than 221,100 residents are living with chest, heart and stroke conditions.

Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland (CHSS) is looking for people to volunteer their time and place collection cans in shops, local businesses and community spaces to help raise awareness and funds to make sure people with chest, heart and stroke conditions are getting the support they need when they leave hospital.

All the funds raised through the collection cans will go towards funding the charity’s Hospital to Home services - a nationwide network of local support groups, nurses and one-to-one support teams which support people and their families throughout their recovery.

Ruth Zokas, volunteering development lead at CHSS, told Lanarkshire Live : “This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in your local community.

"If you enjoy meeting and talking to new people and building connections in your community then this could be the perfect volunteer role for you.

“All money raised in Scotland stays in Scotland. By volunteering with us, you’ll be helping people across the country get the support they really need.”

If you’re interested in becoming a collection can volunteer with CHSS, you can apply via the charity's website.

The minimum age for the collection can volunteer role is 18 years.
