Charity launched after Ayrshire woman's tragic death receives incredible cash boost

A charity set up following the tragic suicide of a young Ayrshire woman has just received a wonderful cash boost.

Megan’s Space was set up by the Copeland family of Irvine following the death of their daughter Megan, 20, in 2019.

The charity aims to get people talking about all aspects of mental health as well as providing support to young people who are not in a position to support their own therapy and recovery.

Megan’s mother Jenny said: “When we are experiencing challenges we don’t all need professional help or interventions and it is important to acknowledge the role family, friends, schools and community play in our well-being and recovery, however many young people do need help.

“Since we started in October 2019 we have provided 40 support packages to young people.

“We know we have probably collaborated in the prevention of at least 10 suicides. And we know we have assisted many more of our clients rediscover joy and hope in their lives.”

Earlier this month saw World Mental Health Day and the theme was mental health equality for all.

A fundraising meal celebrating Megan’s Space July Memorial Month’s achievements was held at Tom Hunter’s West Coast Accelerators premises in Dundonald.

Catered by local events management company Velvet Cuisine the event raised almost £1000.
