Charity calendar is a big hit in Larkhall

A popular Larkhall Facebook page has raised thousands of pounds for charity for a fourth year running.

The Two Larky Mashers from High Avon Street page has raised £3000 for various charities following the success of their 2019 calendar.

The organisers behind the popular Facebook page – Tommy McPhee, Les Hoggan, Walter Smith, Dougie Semple, Jonathan Craig and Monica Sullivan – aim to give residents in Larkhall a forum where they can reminisce about the town’s history.

And again this year they released another calendar showing a collection of photographs from the town, which was a huge success.

Larkhall Heritage Group, Larkhall Community Growers, Macmillan Cancer Support and St Andrew’s Hospice each received a £750 a share of the total.

Over the past four years the organisers of the calendar have raised more than £10,000 in total through sales of the calendar.

Tommy McPhee of The Two Larky Mashers from High Avon Street Facebook page said: “We have to say a big thanks to all the sponsors who helped make the calendar possible.

“We also had a great help from our four main distributors in the town.

“Thanks to Lodge St Thomas who provided us with somewhere to host our presentation where we were also entertained for the evening by Touchwood.

“We are always on the lookout for old photographs of Larkhall and if anyone would like to send them to myself they can do by emailing me: tommy.mcphee@btinternet.com.”
