Charity bash at Livingston in aid of the Multiple Sclerosis Society

The organiser behind a charity ball is asking local companies to support the event.

Melanie Gower is organising the bash at Livingston Football Stadium on August 17 in aid of the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Various companies have already donated items for the auction and raffle but Melanie is looking for a little more help and appealed for vouchers, store gifts, donations, and sponsorship.

Melanie has been raising funds for the MS Society since she was diagnosed in 2009.

She said: “I want to raise awareness so people don’t have to suffer in silence. Together we will beat MS.”

Melanie woke one morning 10 years ago and was completely blind. One year later she was diagnosed with MS.

The mum-of-two had her own business but had to give it up as the condition took its toll on her.

Instead she began to get involved with fundraising for the MS Society.

A spokesperson for the MS Society said: “We are so grateful to have Melanie’s support in helping raise awareness and vital funding to help stop MS.

“Any support you can offer Melanie to help facilitate her fundraising is appreciated by everyone here.”

Multiple sclerosis is a neurological condition which damages the central nervous system and causes a wide range of symptoms including mobility issues and problems with coordination.

In Scotland there are around 11,000 people with MS. There is no cure for the condition.

Attendees at the charity ball will receive a welcome drink, two-course meal, entertainment including music, choir, table magic, auction, raffle and a performance by the headlining act Saskia from ‘The Voice’.

For tickets or to donate contact Melanie on 0759 892 7109. She is on Facebook under MS Charity Ball.
