Charing Cross crash at North Street: Woman suffers serious head injury after being hit by car

A woman has suffered a serious head injury after being hit by a car at Charing Cross in the centre of Glasgow.

Emergency services raced to the scene on North Street last night (Thursday) in response to the crash and the road was shut down by police for several hours.

The 20-year-old pedestrian is currently being treated at Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are appealing for any witnesses.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 6.45pm on Thursday, 26 November, 2020, officers received reports of a female pedestrian having been struck by a car on North Street at its junction with Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow.

"Police and ambulance service attended and the 20-year-old pedestrian was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with a serious head injury.

"The road was re-opened at 10.50pm.

"Anyone with dash-cam footage who was in the area around the time of the incident or anyone with information should contact police via 101, quoting incident number 2830 of 26 November."
