Charges upgraded to murder for Vic trio

Police allege three males were involved in the stabbing death of a teenager in suburban Geelong. (AAP)

Three Victorians have had their charges upgraded to murder over the fatal stabbing of a teenager last year in suburban Geelong.

A 17-year-old Brookfield boy, a 21-year-old Thomson man and a 19-year-old Melton man were charged with one count of murder on Tuesday.

Police allege all three were involved in the stabbing death of an 18-year-old Bell Post Hill man in the Geelong suburb of Corio on August 23.

The victim later died from his injuries after being taken to hospital, and police have previously said the males were believed to be known to each other.

The trio had already been charged with an array of offences over the incident.

The youngest male is on remand and will next appear in children's court at a later date, while the two others will face Geelong Magistrates Court on July 5.
