A man has faced court charged over the hit-and-run death of a Victorian cyclist a week after the crash.
Bradley Spark, 39, was arrested at Ballarat East on Wednesday night and charged with culpable driving causing death, failing to stop and failing to render assistance.
The Alfredton man was held overnight and appeared before Ballarat Magistrates Court on Thursday.
After his arrest, detectives searched a Ross Creek property and seized a silver Mitsubishi sedan, firearms and stolen property.
David Thomson, 60, was riding his bike on La Trobe Street in Delacombe, near Ballarat, about 5.40am on October 31 when he was hit by a silver sedan that drove off.
Mr Thomson's daughter Sophie is a local police officer and stopped to help her colleagues at the scene on her way to work, when she discovered the victim was her father.
"Dad's the reason I joined the job, Dad's absolutely everything to me. I called Dad every Sunday we have a chat. He's just is, is just the world to us," Sen Const Thomson told reporters on Tuesday in an appeal for information.
Spark has been remanded in custody and is expected to face a committal mention on April 14.
