
A MAN will face court on Thursday after he was charged in relation to a Wallsend shooting earlier this week.
Police from Newcastle City were called to Platt Street about 2am on Tuesday after a shot was fired through a front window, with specialists examining the scene.
Investigators said three adults and three children were home at the time but escaped unscathed.
Their inquiries led officers to stop a stolen Toyota Camry on Lambton Road at Broadmeadow about 12.50am on Wednesday.
Officers searched the vehicle, arresting a 25-year-old man and a 22-year-old female passenger.
It is alleged they found a shortened shotgun, ammunition and a small amount of cannabis.
The man, who was driving the vehicle stopped at Broadmeadow, was charged with several offences.
The included fire firearm at dwelling-house with disregard for safety, two counts of possess shortened firearm (not pistol) without authority, use unauthorised firearm, not keep firearm safely, intimidate intend fear physical harm (personal), receive property stolen outside NSW, two counts of drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, and drive motor vehicle during disqualification period - second offence.
The 25-year-old was refused bail and will appear in Newcastle Local Court.
Police said the woman was taken to Waratah police station, where she received a cannabis caution and was subequenttly released.
