Western Australia's Department of Communities has been tied to further corruption allegations with a former contractor facing bribery charges.

It's alleged the 68-year-old man transferred more than $120,000 to a department employee between 2014 and 2020.

"During this time, the man was awarded more than $1.1 million in contracts by the employee," West Australian police said in a statement on Friday.

The North Perth man has been charged with 31 counts of bribery of a public officer and one count of gaining benefit by fraud.

He is due to face Perth Magistrates Court on January 3.

The charges were laid as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged corruption and fraud involving contractors and employees at the Department of Communities.

Investigations into the involvement of other parties remained ongoing, police said.
