
A MAN was due to face Newcastle Local Court on Sunday after an alleged domestic-related stabbing on the Central Coast late on Friday night.
The incident occurred after an 18-year-old woman drove to Gosford shortly before 10.30pm to pick up a man known to her.
Police said that the pair had an argument as the woman drove along Showground Road when "it is alleged the man produced a knife and stabbed her in the chest, arm and leg".
The woman pulled over and the man fled into nearby bush, police said.
Paramedics treated the woman at the scene before she was taken to Gosford Hospital in a stable condition.
Other emergency services also attended.
Brisbane Water Police District officers searched the area with the assistance of the dog unit and the police helicopter but were unable to find the man.
Subsequent inquiries led police to arrest a man, 21, at a Wyoming address about 9.30pm on Saturday night.
The man was taken to Woy Woy police station and formally charged with several offences including wound person intend to cause grievous bodily harm (domestic violence), and stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm (domestic).
He was refused bail.
