
A man will appear in court on Monday after two police officers were injured in an alleged incident in Port Stephens.
Police were called to Tanilba Bay after they allege a 50-year-old woman was assaulted by a woman known to her, resulting in a dislocated shoulder and suspected fractured eye socket.
It is alleged that a second altercation then broke out at the premises between a 28-year-old male resident and three other males during which a 74-year-old woman was assaulted.
A large amount of damage was sustained to the property and to a motor vehicle during the incident, police said.
A short time later police attended another address and arrested a female.
But as they made the arrest, police claim a man advanced on the officers. Police tried to arrest the man, but allege that he violently resisted.
The officers sustained injuries as a result of being punched to the head and face and kicked to the head and chest, it is alleged.
Defensive spray was used to subdue the man and he was then conveyed to Raymond Terrace Police Station along with the female who was arrested at the scene without incident.
The 33-year-old man was refused bail after being charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company, malicious damage, assault police cause actual bodily harm, assault police and resist/hinder officer.
He remains in custody and is due in court on Monday at Raymond Terrace.
