A MAN who allegedly entered Lake Macquarie's waters in a bid to evade police will face court on Thursday.

Tuggerah Lakes police attended a Mannering Park address about 11.20am on Wednesday to arrest a man on outstanding warrants.

Arriving at Mariam Street, officers saw a man run from the property and jump over the back fence.

They followed in a foot pursuit before the man ran onto a jetty and leaped into the water.

The officers followed, using the police helicopter to help track him down.

The man returned to shore and was arrested about 11.30am.

"During a search, police seized more than $1100 cash, and a crystal substance which returned a positive result for methylamphetamine," NSW Police said in a statement.

The 33-year-old man was taken to Wyong poice station. He has been charged with destroy/damage property with intent to endanger life, possess prohibited drug, aggravated robbery and inflict actual bodily harm and two outstanding warrants.

He was refused bail to face Wyong Local Court.
