Charges after commercial quantity of 'magic mushrooms' allegedly seized

GENERIC, NSW police, police badge,

A 19-year-old man will face court on Monday after police allegedly found him parking on a rural Hunter road with a commercial quantity of magic mushrooms.

Police were travelling on Raymond Terrace Road at Nelsons Plains about 10.25am on May 1 when they saw a grey Holden Cruze parked on the roadside.

They stopped and spoke to the driver before searching the vehicle.

That search allegedly found more than 120g of psilocybin, a small amount of cannabis, drug paraphernalia and cash.

Police arrested the man and took him to Raymond Terrace police station.

He was charged with supply prohibited drug larger than commercial quantity, possess prohibited drug and deal with proceeds of crime.

The 19-year-old was refused bail to face Newcastle Local Court on May 2, where he received conditional bail.

He is due to face Raymond Terrace Local Court on Monday.
