Chargers WR Mike Williams will play vs. Broncos

The Chargers are looking to expand their record to 3-2 this weekend against the Broncos. On paper, Los Angeles should take care of business, but they need to make sure they have some key players after being hit with a wave of injuries.

One player that will be back in the mix after missing last Sunday’s game against the Dolphins with a back injury is wide receiver Mike Williams.

Williams, who was a full participant today at practice, told ESPN’s Eric D. Williams that he is playing this weekend.

Williams didn’t make the trip to Miami because he was dealing with back spasms and he wanted them to calm down before returning to live game action.

Knowing that Williams’ injury wasn’t more severe is promising. The former Clemson product dealt with the same injury during his rookie season, and it held him back significantly.

Quarterback Philip Rivers will be thrilled to know that he has another weapon, especially when the wide receiver group has struggled to stay injury-free, as Travis Benjamin has been dealing with a hip injury and Dontrelle Inman was just recently placed on the injured reserve.

In three games, Williams has posted eight catches for 157 yards. He will be looking to find the end zone for the first time this season.
