Chargers vs. Bears: 3 things that stood out in first quarter

The Chargers and Bears are scoreless after the first quarter of the Week 8 battle.

Here are three things that stood out in the first quarter:

Joey Bosa continues his dominance

Bosa’s impact was felt early on when he beat right tackle Bobby Massie with ease to get to quarterback Ryan Tannehill for the sack. He followed that up with a run stop and some more pressure on the following drive. Having Melvin Ingram back and lining up on his side allows for more one-on-one opportunities, which allows their pass rush to flourish.

Keenan Allen struggling to stay on his feet

Allen came into the matchup as a game-time decision with a hamstring injury. From the first couple of drives, it’s making you wonder if the injury is bugging him. He’s slipped twice and even though the grass at Soldier Field isn’t the greatest, he’s missed two opportunities to have a pair of critical receptions.

Philip Rivers’ ball security continues to be an issue

Rivers had six interceptions coming into the game, but after forcing the ball intended to wide receiver Mike Williams into tight coverage, he was picked off for his seventh interception. With him making these careless mistakes, it has hurt the offense.
