ESPN’s Jordan Reid released his latest mock draft, where he sees the Chargers trading back a few spots and stacking some picks.
Here is a look at who Reid sent to Los Angeles.
Round 1, No. 9, TE Brock Bowers, Georgia (via Bears)
Reid mentioned that there were many rumblings of the Chargers wanting to trade back next month, which would make a lot of sense for a team that has a lot of holes to fill on the roster.
In this scenario, Los Angeles moves back four spots with the Bears, who trade up to select LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers. The Bolts, on the other hand, pick Bowers.
Given the positional value, No. 5 overall might be rich to select Bowers. But in a trade-down scenario where the Chargers can add a few picks, this would be ideal for them.
Bowers gives the Bolts a dynamic pass-catching option and a serviceable run blocker. In Greg Roman’s offense, where tight ends are valuable, Bowers would be a welcomed addition.
Round 2, No. 37, CB Kamari Lassiter, Georgia
I mocked Lassiter to the Chargers in my latest four-round projections in this same exact spot.
Los Angeles will be in the market for a starting cornerback. Michael Davis will be a free agent. Asante Samuel Jr. made some great plays in coverage but also made some crucial mistakes and struggled against the run.
Lassiter is a complete cover corner who excels in press-man and zone coverages. He possesses great instincts, football intelligence, hip fluidity, and change-of-direction skills. Against the run, he is a very willing participant and a sound open-field tackler.
Lassiter finished his college career with 86 tackles, a sack, an interception and 14 pass deflections.
