Chargers TE Hunter Henry suffered tibial plateau fracture

Chargers tight end Hunter Henry suffered a tibial plateau fracture to his left knee in Sunday’s victory over the Colts.

Henry will continue to be evaluated, and the timeframe for his return is undisclosed at the moment.

For reference, this is the same type of injury that ended Texans defensive end J.J. Watt’s 2017 season when he sustained it early in October of that year.

Fortunately, ESPN’s Adam Schefter said that the Chargers believe Henry’s injury would only sideline him for 4-6 weeks.

This would mark Henry’s third injury in a four-year span. He suffered a lacerated kidney late in the 2017 season, and tore his ACL in the 2018 preseason.

If Henry has to miss a significant amount of time, this would be a huge blow to the offense.

Virgil Green and Sean Culkin would be the only active tight ends on the roster. Los Angeles also has Matt Sokol on the practice squad, who could get the call up if need be.

Antonio Gates remains a free agent, and he has yet to close the door on a potential return.
