Chargers TE Hunter Henry might not play vs. Broncos in Week 5

Los Angeles Chargers tight end Hunter Henry suffered a tibial plateau fracture to his left knee in Sunday’s season opener against the Indianapolis Colts. He caught four passes for 60 yards before leaving the game.

Henry is facing a recovery timeline of 4-6 weeks, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Denver will host L.A. in Week 5, three and a half weeks from now.

Losing Henry could prove to be a big blow to the Chargers’ offense. He is the team’s top tight end, listed above Virgil Green and Sean Culkin on L.A.’s depth chart. It wouldn’t be surprising to see the Chargers bring in another tight end this week to provide more depth at the position.

The Broncos’ defense has struggled to cover tight ends in recent years, including Henry. In four career games against Denver, Henry has caught 12 passes for 170 yards and one touchdown.

Henry will likely be back on the field in time for the Chargers’ second game against the Broncos in Week 13 on Sunday, Dec. 1.
