Chargers stand pat in USA Today’s post-draft power rankings

The Chargers wrapped up the 2019 NFL draft and it’s safe to say that they are ready to make a stronger push going into this upcoming season after their additions through free agency and the draft.

USA Today seemed to really like what they are doing to shore up the roster, too. But since Los Angeles was recently slotted as the No. 2 overall team, they were unable to jump the Patriots for the No. 1 spot, even after the additions to the team.

Here is what the publication had to say about keeping L.A. ranked as the second-best team after the draft.

Is any team better balanced on both sides of the ball or with the depth of ability this one has after what seemed another strong draft haul?

L.A. had a plan going into this draft, and it was to get faster and more physical. The Chargers used five of their selections on defensive players, including defensive tackle Jerry Tillery and free safety Nasir Adderley, who should be instant starters.

The only acquisitions in free agency were linebacker Thomas Davis and quarterback Tyrod Taylor, as well as a few retainments. Overall, it has been solid haul without breaking the bank for a team that has a vision of making it to the Super Bowl and it should only have fans excited for the 2019 season.
