Chargers sign DE Thomas Costigan, waive TE Andrew Vollert

The Chargers made a roster move on Monday.

The team announced that they have signed defensive end Thomas Costigan. Tight end Andrew Vollert was waived/injured in a corresponding move.

Vollert tore his ACL on a special teams play in Thursday’s game against the Cardinals.

Los Angeles had claimed him off waivers from the Bengals in May, and despite joining a crowded room, Vollert was making a strong push for the No. 3 tight end spot. He had a 25-yard catch against Arizona.

Costigan participated in rookie minicamp for the Bolts. He amassed 285 total tackles, 26 career sacks, 13 forced fumbles and three interceptions at Bryant University.
