Chargers set for private visit with Washington OT Kaleb McGary

The offensive tackle position is in high demand for the Chargers. The team has certainly been hard at work studying this year’s class to find suitors to help bolster the trenches.

Los Angeles is among 14 teams set for private meetings with Washington offensive tackle Kaleb McGary, according to Houston Chronicle’s Aaron Wilson.

McGary has skyrocketed in a deep offensive tackle class throughout the past few months after faring well at the Senior Bowl and displaying top-tier athleticism at the Scouting Combine in March.

Because of that, McGary’s name has been slotted to the Bolts in the first round a few times in various mock drafts within the course of the past month. Coming into the 2018 season, he was seen more as a mid-round selection.

McGary is a four-year starter for the Huskies, and for his efforts, he won the 2018 Morris Trophy, which goes to the Pac-12’s top offensive lineman.

McGary’s got an NFL frame, standing at 6-foot-7 and 317 pounds with 32 7/8-inch arms and 10 1/8-inch hands. The former Husky plays with a combination of athleticism, mobility and power, as he has a background in basketball.

McGary only has experience at right tackle, which is where he projects best at, though some have suggested a transition inside to guard.

It wouldn’t be all that surprising to see him end up as a Charger later this month since the need for offensive linemen is high and McGary possesses the traits, intangibles and tenacious mentality that suit perfectly.
