The Chargers selected former Sioux Falls offensive tackle Trey Pipkins with the No. 91 overall selection.
The need for an offensive tackle was evident, as right tackle Sam Tevi struggled significantly during his sophomore season. Los Angeles made the selection to bring in competition.
Pipkins became the second player from Sioux Falls to be drafted in school history. He allowed only two sacks over his three-year stint as the starting left tackle.
Pipkins offers NFL-caliber size at 6-foot-6 and 309 pounds and possesses the athletic ability for the position, but he will need to develop his hand usage, movement skills and get caught up to NFL speed.
