Chargers select LB Drue Tranquill No. 130 overall

The Chargers selected former Notre Dame linebacker Drue Tranquill with the No. 130 overall selection of the 2019 NFL draft.

Los Angeles brought in Thomas Davis through free agency and brought back Denzel Perryman, but general manager Tom Telesco made the point that the team was going to make the linebacker position a priority.

Tranquill is the second player taken from Notre Dame University. Defensive tackle Jerry Tillery was selected in the first round (No. 28 overall)

At 6-foot-2 and 234 pounds, Tranquill might not be a three-down starter, but he has the toughness, athleticism, versatility and high football IQ to make to be a sub-package linebacker and special-teams contributor for Los Angeles.
