Chargers request to interview Matt Eberflus for HC role

As expected, Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator is a popular candidate for vacant head coaching roles, and it seems the Los Angeles Chargers have their sights set on him as well.

The New York Jets and Houston Texans have already requested interviews with Eberflus after wild-card weekend, and now the Chargers can be added to that list of teams who have requested an interview for their vacant head coaching role, first reported by Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

The Chargers parted ways with head coach Anthony Lynn on Monday and will be looking to find his replacement. Eberflus will continue to be a popular candidate, and the Chargers opening is interesting for any potential incoming head coach.

With the electric Justin Herbert under center and some promising pieces on defense, this opening is arguably the best among the teams searching for a new head coach.

It will be interesting if Eberflus takes a job anywhere, but he now has three options on his plate after wild-card weekend.
