Chargers release CB Kemon Hall from practice squad

The Chargers’ practice squad will no longer include cornerback Kemon Hall. Hall was released on Monday, per the NFL transaction report.

Hall was signed as an undrafted free agent out of North Texas this spring. He appeared in four games this preseason, racking up eight tackles (six solo).

Considering how thin the cornerback position is, the move came as a bit of a surprise. Coach Anthony Lynn said that the team is looking to make a move soon, and calling up Hall from the practice squad wasn’t a part of it.

Trevor Williams’ timeframe for return is undisclosed and Michael Davis is expected to miss some time as he’s nursing a hamstring injury that he sustained in the regular season opener, leaving Casey Hayward, Desmond King and Brandon Facyson as the only players that are good to go.

It’s very unlikely that Los Angeles will go into Week 2 with only three players at the position. So with that, we can expect them to dip into the free agency pool for one in the coming days.
