Chargers re-sign DT Damion Square

The Chargers re-signed defensive tackle Damion Square on Monday.

Square visited the Titans last month in April, but the two parties didn’t come out with a deal. Knowing that he was still on the market, he had his best season in 2018, and Los Angeles was in need of shoring up the interior part of the defensive line, bringing Square back was a no-brainer.

The former Alabama product joins a defensive line with two new faces in Jerry Tillery and Cortez Broughton. Square will serve as a versatile piece, who can play all up and down the line.

Last season marked Square’s best as a Charger. He started 11 of 16 games, and recorded 31 tackles, three tackles for loss, three sacks, seven quarterback hits and three passes defensed.

In five seasons with the Bolts, Square recorded 69 tackles, eight tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, six passes defensed, 14 quarterback hits and two fumble recoveries. He played in 49 games with 19 starts over those five seasons.
