Chargers re-sign DE Isaac Rochell

The Chargers have re-signed exclusive rights free agent defensive end Isaac Rochell, according to the team’s official website.

The details of the contract have yet to be announced.

Rochell, who was an exclusive rights free (EFRA), is a player with only one or two seasons under their belt. Unlike restricted free agents, they can’t negotiate with other teams.

Rochell suited up for three games with the Bolts during his rookie season before earning more playing time this past year to fill in for the injured Joey Bosa.

Rochell ended up appearing in all 16 games, including three starts, amassing 29 tackles (18 solo), five sacks and one interception.

Rochell will provide well-needed depth behind Bosa and Melvin Ingram as another key pass rusher in 2019.

Rochell, 23, was the team’s seventh round selection in the 2017 NFL draft out of the Notre Dame.
