Chargers RB Melvin Gordon predicted to finish 2nd in yards from scrimmage

Chargers running back Melvin Gordon has quickly turned into one of the most dynamic players since coming in the league in 2015.

Even though he has been hampered with injuries, each year has progressively gotten better for the former Wisconsin product. He has displayed that he is a true versatile back and when healthy, it shows on the field and on the stat sheet.

Because of that, Bleacher Report’s Maurice Moton believes that he is due for another big year in 2019. Moton tabbed Gordon as finishing second in the most yards from the line of scrimmage behind Giants’ Saquon Barkley (2,045).

In 2018, Gordon rushed for 885 yards and 10 touchdowns on 175 rushes. He also posted 50 receptions for four touchdowns and 490 yards. Gordon amassed these numbers in 12 games as he missed the final four of the regular season due to a knee injury.

Gordon was more involved in the pass game than ever before this past season. He set a career high in receiving yards and tied his career high for receiving touchdowns. He averaged 6.1 yards per touch, which was No. 5 among running backs.

Los Angeles loves to get Gordon involved as much as possible in their high-powered offense and it’ll be no different this year despite having two other reliable backs in Austin Ekeler and Justin Jackson to resort to.

Going into the final year of his rookie season, Gordon should see a great amount of success on the ground and through the air but it’ll all come down to his health if he is going to achieve that hefty contract.
