Chargers RB Melvin Gordon might play vs. Broncos in Week 5

Next week’s game against the Chargers might have just gotten a little harder for the Broncos’ defense.

After a three-game holdout, Los Angeles running back Melvin Gordon returned to the team Thursday. Chargers coach Anthony Lynn indicated Thursday that Gordon is uncertain to play this weekend but noted that he will be the team’s starter when he does return to the field.

After L.A. ruled out running back Justin Jackson (calf) on Friday, the Chargers may be forced to have Gordon suit up on Sunday.

Regardless of whether or not he plays against the Dolphins in Week 4, Gordon appears poised to play against Denver in Week 5.

In seven career games against the Broncos, Gordon has gained 657 yards from scrimmage and has scored one touchdown. Since entering the NFL in 2015, Gordon has totaled 5,205 yards and scored 38 touchdowns.

Denver’s defense has allowed 109.3 rushing yards per game this season. Los Angeles’ offense has gained 111.7 rushing yards per contest.
