Chargers QB Justin Herbert named NFL Pepsi Rookie of the Week

Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert has been named the NFL Pepsi Rookie of the Week for Week 2.

Herbert earned the weekly honor following his unexpected, yet outstanding debut. In his first career start, the former Oregon product completed 22 of 33 passes for 311 yards and two total touchdowns in the close divisional defeat.

Herbert made history, becoming just the third player in league history to post 300-plus passing yards and a rushing touchdown in his first game, joining Cam Newton and Otto Graham.

Herbert will make his second start this Sunday against the Panthers after Tyrod Taylor was ruled “out indefinitely” due to a punctured lung.
