Chargers promote CB Tevaughn Campbell, release K Chase McLaughlin

The Chargers made a few roster moves on Tuesday.

Los Angeles released kicker Chase McLaughlin. To fill the vacated spot, they are promoting cornerback Tevaughn Campbell to the active roster. The team also added offensive tackle Tyree St. Louis to the practice squad.

The releasing of McLaughlin means that Michael Badgley is the only kicker on the active roster, indicating that he will make his season debut this weekend after missing the first eight weeks with a groin injury.

Below is the official team release:

The Los Angeles Chargers promoted CB Tevaughn Campbell to the active roster, the organization announced on Tuesday. In a corresponding move, K Chase McLaughlin was released. The Bolts also added T Tyree St. Louis to the practice squad.

Campbell was signed to the Chargers practice squad on Sept. 11, after spending the offseason and training camp with the New York Jets. The Scarborough, Canada native was originally a third-round pick in the CFL Draft (2015), where he played for Calgary, Saskatchewan and Montreal before joining the Jets. He registered 53 tackles, four interceptions, two of which were returned for touchdowns, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown and a sack in 42 career games. He holds the CFL’s electronic timed combine record in the 40-yard dash, running it in 4.355 seconds.
