The annual player rankings are out for Madden NFL 20, and it’s quarterback Philip Rivers and running back Melvin Gordon leading the way for the Chargers.
Rivers has a 94 overall ranking, while Gordon is sitting with a 92. They were the only two players to be rated in the 90s.
Rivers’ 94 overall rating places him as the third-best quarterback behind Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes and Patriots’ Tom Brady. He is coming off one of the best seasons as a professional yet, completing 68.3 percent of his passes for 4,308 yards, 32 touchdowns while also throwing only 12 interceptions.
Meanwhile, Gordon’s 92 overall ranking lands him as the fourth-best running back behind Rams’ Todd Gurley, Cowboys’ Ezekiel Elliott and Jets’ Le’Veon Bell.
There’s a possibility that Gordon may not even play a single snap this upcoming season with a contract dispute looming. But nonetheless, he has still proven himself as one of the best running backs in the league when healthy, so the rating is well-deserved.
