Chargers OT Russell Okung will play vs. Bears

The Chargers will have their starting left tackle back in Week 8 when they take on the Bears.

Coach Anthony Lynn announced that Okung will practice today and will play this weekend, making his 2019 regular season debut.

Lynn said Okung won’t play the whole game on Sunday, which means that Trent Scott will still play. The two will rotate at the position. Along with that, there could also be a rotation at right tackle between Scott and Sam Tevi, per The Athletic’s Daniel Popper.

Even though Okung will be on a limited snap count, having him back in the starting lineup will be a much-needed boost to an offensive line that has been inconsistent since he’s been out.

Okung returned to practice last week after suffering a pulmonary embolism back in June. He appeared to be in good spirits and eager to get back out on to the playing field.
